What does “saved” really mean?
The product is more trustworthy when it shows three durability levels instead of calling every bookmark permanent.
Media stored
The uploaded or permitted media copy is stored, along with the card and any analysis. The original post may disappear while the stored copy remains, subject to user deletion, Drive/storage access, account state, rights, and retention policy.

Control has several layers

Private library by default
Your personal library is not a public social feed. Sharing is an explicit action.
AI consent and controls
The application includes AI consent and analysis controls. “Save only” and “analyze this” are different user intentions.
Google Drive connection
Supported uploaded media can live in a Drive folder the user controls. OAuth can expire; files can be moved; quotas and organization rules still apply.
No training on your library
The current product policy says user library data is not used to train models. Processing still sends necessary context to configured AI services when AI is enabled.
Token links are bearer access
An AI Context or public share link can be opened by whoever has it. Expiration stops later access but cannot erase a copy someone already made.
Connections should be revocable
Extensions, Drive, social identities, public links, and MCP sessions are delegated access. Users should review and disconnect what they no longer use.

What is the one main reason to use MemoryStore?
Because you remember what a useful video or link was about, but not what it was called or where you saved it. MemoryStore is designed to turn that vague memory into a retrievable, usable item.
Can MemoryStore save an Instagram video forever?
Only when the media file is actually stored. A normal Instagram link may preserve its card, caption, source, note, and any captured knowledge, but the original playback can disappear if the creator deletes it or changes access. Uploading a media file creates a much more durable result.
Does AI work automatically on everything I save?
No. The depth of analysis depends on source access, usable text or media, AI consent, plan limits, processing success, and platform rules. YouTube and direct uploads generally offer a clearer path to deep analysis. Restricted social links may require an upload.
What can I search for?
You can use titles, authors, source text, your notes, tags, transcript words, visual details, topics, situations, and approximate meaning when those fields are available. Search quality follows the quality of the captured and generated context.
Will it replace Notion, Obsidian, or my project-management app?
Usually no. MemoryStore’s strongest role is capture and retrieval for video, social content, and saved knowledge. A broader workspace remains better for writing long documents, managing tasks, or running complex team operations. They can be complementary.
What is the difference between AI Context and MCP?
AI Context is a deliberately selected bundle exposed through a copyable format or token link. MCP is a live, approved connection through which an AI client can call scoped MemoryStore tools and retrieve relevant items dynamically.
Can I use MemoryStore without AI?
The application includes AI consent controls and a save-only path. Without analysis, you still keep a library record and available source context, but transcript, generated summaries, semantic retrieval, and AI-grounded features will naturally be more limited.
Where do my files and metadata live?
Library records, metadata, notes, tags, transcripts, and generated analysis use MemoryStore’s backend services. Supported uploaded media can use a connected Google Drive. The exact storage path for a card should be visible in the product; Drive access can fail if permissions or files change.
What happens if an AI transcript or summary is wrong?
Treat it as assistive. Open the source, keep user corrections and notes separate, edit or reanalyze where appropriate, and do not rely on generated text as the only evidence for a high-stakes decision.
Is MemoryStore the same as Google Cloud Memorystore?
No. MemoryStore at memorystore.in is a consumer app for saving and using videos, links, and personal knowledge. Google Cloud Memorystore is an unrelated database service for software developers.
What should I try first?
Save one real item you have previously struggled to find—ideally a YouTube video or a direct upload that can be deeply processed. Then search for it using only the detail you would naturally remember. The useful test is not “did the save button work?” but “did future-you get the answer back?”
